Kaci Clark - Pitching Specialist

Kaci Clark embodies the term great player turned great teacher. Clark, a UCLA graduate, was unbeaten during the Bruins 1995 NCAA title campaign. Clark spent last year playing with the prestigious Conn. Brakettes.

Playing for the Brakettes in 2002 and 2003, Clark was a combined 54-2 with a 0.27 era. Kaci's high energy and understanding of the biomechanics of pitching has elevated her to one of the most sought after pitching instructors in softball.

Rita Lynn Gilman - Pitching Specialist

Considered as the premiere pitching instructor in the Richmond, Virginia area, Rita Lynn has influenced the careers of many outstanding pitchers in over 24 years of instruction. A full-time pitching instructor, she runs her pitching school on the family farm in Hanover County, Va. She has been part of our staff for 8 summers. Detailed and energetic in her teachings, Rita Lynn has done a very detailed study of the pitching motion and passes on her passion for pitching to the campers!

Division I




Kathy Riley - Longwood University

Kathy Riley is in her 14th year at Longwood University during 2010-11. She has an outstanding overall record of 397-217-1 (.646) since taking over the program prior to the 1998 season, including 12 winning years. The Lancers finished 2010 with a final record of 36-16, marking their 13th consecutive 20-win season, 10th 25-win campaign, and seventh 30-win season under Coach Riley.

Success is nothing new to Riley, a native of Dayton, Ohio. In addition to her coaching accomplishments mentioned earlier, Riley has enjoyed quite a remarkable individual athletic past. She was the 1981 Broderick Cup National Softball Player of the Year at East Carolina, leading ECU to a number one national ranking while garnering first-team "All-America" honors. Riley later played on the gold medal-winning team at the 1990 Olympic Sports Festival. She has also played on five national champion softball teams during the summer months, gaining 'All-America' status seven times.

Coach Riley is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Softball Hall of Fame. Coach Riley earned her B.S. in physical education from East Carolina in 1981 after transferring from Middle Tennessee in 1979. She then received her M.E. in physical education: psychology/sociology from North Texas State in 1982.

Jennifer Herzig - UNC Greensboro

Jennifer Herzig begins her 6th season as the head coach of the UNC Greensboro softball program.

Herzig was a member of the NCAA Division I Softball Committee from July 2008 to September 2009 and is the representative for the South Region on the NCAA Softball Regional Advisory Committee for the 2009-2010 year.

A 2001 graduate of Charlotte, Herzig served as an assistant coach during the 2004 and 2005 seasons at her alma mater under head coach Aimee DeVos. With the 49ers, Herzig assisted in all aspects of recruiting and other daily operations of the program, with an emphasis on working with the Charlotte hitters, infielders and catchers.

During her playing career, Herzig was honored for her work in the classroom repeatedly, earning two Conference USA Academic Medals (2000-2001) and NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors in each of her four years (1998-2001). She was a four-year letterwinner as a catcher for the 49ers.

Herzig graduated cum laude from Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She earned her master's degree in physical education and sport management from East Tennessee State in 2003, where she spent two seasons as an assistant coach. She served as the program's interim head coach during the fall of 2002.

Jen Steele - George Mason University

Jen Steele enters her first year at George Mason as the Assistant Softball Coach. Steele, a former all-American softball player at Longwood University, comes to the Patriots from Randolph College where she served as head coach of the WildCats program.

Led by 2009 ODAC Coach of the Year, the WildCats broke several individual school records and earned individual post-season awards this past season. Lindsay Cross '10 (2009 ODAC Player of the Year) broke the school's career hits, doubles, and RBI records. Nikki Smith '10 finished as the school's all-time leader in home runs (21). Brittany Willingham '13 broke the school's single season marks in hits, doubles, and runs scored in just her first season of play at Randolph.

A Virginia native, Steele spent two years (2005-2007) as the assistant softball coach at Smith College in Massachusetts. She graduated from Smith with a master's degree in exercise and sports studies. As the assistant coach at Smith, Steele served as the head pitching coach, with additional responsibilities in recruiting, practice planning, fundraising, budgeting, and game-day coaching. Steele's coaching experience also includes working as an assistant coach for the Fire & Ice 18 and under club team in Sterling, Virginia, as well as working as a clinician at numerous camps and clinics throughout Virginia and Massachusetts.

Steele was a four-year starter for the Longwood University Lancers. A stand-out as a pitcher, designated hitter, and third baseman, Steele was named the Carolinas-Virginia Conference (CVAC) Freshman of the Year as well as a two-time first-team All-CVAC honoree. Steele's accolades also include NCAA Division I All-American and All-Academic recognition. Steele graduated from Longwood in 2005 with a degree in communication studies.

Katy Lampman - Radford University

Coach Lampman is entering her 3rd season as assistant softball coach at Radford University and has made an immediate impact on the Highlander squad.

Making gradual improvements each season, the Highlanders have recorded the top fielding percentage in the Big South, including a school record mark of .971 in 2010. Along with the top fielding percentage, Radford committed the fewest errors (46) in school history. The defensive improvement came to fruition in the the 2010 Big South Tournament when Radford, on its way to a second league championship, did not commit a miscue in three games.

Coach Lampman played a key role in Radfords 2009 Big South Championship and a NCAA Regional appearance, Lampman was part of a staff that was named Mid-Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year. With on-field instruction being Lampman's main focus, the Highlander defense flourished in 2009. Radford turned a school record 24 double plays and posted a .966 fielding percentage, tops in the Big South and second best in school history.

A 2003 graduate of Winthrop, Lampman (formerly Katy Agee) joins Radford after spending the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater. While with the Lady Eagles, she worked closely with the hitters and catchers.

Along with coaching, Lampman has been providing private lessons that keyed on pitching, catching and hitting, while working several camps at Winthrop, University of Georgia and in Canada over the past five years. In 2007, she founded the Superior Softball School in Concord, N.C. which offers individual instruction and clinics in all areas of softball.

A pre-med major, Lampman graduated from Winthrop with a degree in biology, earning NFCA All-Academic honors, while being a member of the Tri-Beta Honor Society.

Bobby Barton - Virginia Tech

Bobby Barton is in his first year as the volunteer assistant coach for the Hokies, helping specifically with the catchers. The Botetourt, Va., native is working toward a degree in sports management from Bluefield College and has been playing men's fastpitch softball for the past five years in addition to playing college baseball for three years. He graduated from Lord Botetourt High in 2005.

Hope Creasy - Georgia Southern University

The 2010 Big South Woman of the year and two-time First-Team All-Conference selection, Creasy was a four-year letterwinner for the Radford Highlanders and helped Radford capture the last two Big South regular-season and Tournament Championships, as well as NCAA Tournament berths in 2009 and 2010 and reaching the 2010 Athens Regional Final, a first for any Radford athletic program. Creasy finished the season with a .319 batting average, in addition to 12 home runs, 36 RBI and a .613 slugging percentage, and was recently named Louisville Slugger/NFCA First-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region. A two-time Big South Player of the Week selection in 2010, Creasy ends her Radford career second in home runs (32), fourth in RBI (133), fifth in total bases (338), seventh in slugging (.514) and eighth in doubles (36). Other career highlights include finishing second in the Big South in hitting (.368) and RBI (39) in 2008, which were the fifth-best totals in school history at the time. She also batted .455 with six doubles and 10 RBI in 15 Conference games that season. As a freshman in 2007, Creasy started every game and earned Second-Team All-State honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). She had 33 RBI and scored 28 runs, in addition to ranking second on the team in triples, third in stolen bases and fourth in doubles and slugging percentage.

RU's team captain this season, Creasy graduated this past year with a 3.63 grade-point average in exercise, sport and health education, and was recently named an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District III Second-Team honoree. Creasy has been named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll three times in her career and has been a member of Radford's Dean's List seven times. In addition, she was named to the NFCA All-Academic Team and the Big South Softball All-Academic Team in 2008, and was nominated for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in her senior season.

Creasy's service and leadership activities include four years on Radford's SAAC, where she served as secretary this past year. She volunteered with the Special Olympics for three years and has been involved with Habitat for Humanity, Samaritan's Feet and Locks for Love during her time at Radford. Creasy will continue her education and athletic career at Georgia Southern where she will work towards her masters in recreation administration and serve as a graduate assistant softball coach.

Michelle Carlson - Winthrop University

Michelle Carlson is entering her first season as an assistant coach for the Winthrop softball team.

A native of Chesapeake, VA, Carlson joins the program after spending last season as Head Softball Coach of Indian River High School where she earned 2010 Southeastern District Coach of the Year honors. Two of her players at Indian River High School received All-District Honorable Mention accolades. Prior to coaching at Indian River, Carlson was an assistant at Georgia Southern University where she was responsible for the outfielders, catchers and also assisted in the day-to-day operations of the Eagle softball program.

Coach Carlson also spend 2 years at Radford as a student assistant coach. During her tenure, the Highlanders set a new school record for wins in a season posting a 46-15 record in 2008, as well as setting team records in home runs (57), batting average (.307) and slugging percentage (.486). Radford also boasted seven All-Conference players that season along with the Big South Freshman of the Year. The 2008 squad also received the first national vote in school history, ranking 34th in the country at the time.

She enjoyed a successful playing career for Big South Conference member Radford after transferring to the Highlander softball program from the University of Toledo. Carlson was a two-time Big South All-Academic Team member (2006-07) and was tabbed as a 2006 NFCA Scholar-Athlete. During the 2007 campaign, she was named to the Big South All-Tournament Team. Carlson graduated from Radford in 2008 with a B.S. degree in Exercise, Sport and Health Education.

Division II

Mandi Balduf - Chowan University

Mandi Balduf enters her 4th season as head coach at Chowan University after coming off a very successful 2010. In her first season playing in the CIAA, she guided her program to a CIAA West Division Championship, a CIAA Championship, and NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament appearance. Under her direction the Hawks have posted back-to-back thirty win seasons after finishing 31-24 this year. The squad went perfect in CIAA play at 18-0 in 2010. In only her second season with the Hawks, Balduf was named the National Christian College Athletic Association's South Region Softball Coach of the Year after posting a 30-23 record in 2009. She guided her team to a 2009 NCCAA South Region Championship, the program's second title since 2005. The 30-win season is the highest win total for softball since the program transitioned to DII status.

Balduf graduated from Tiffin University in 2002 with a B.A. in Sport Management. At Tiffin she was a four-year starter for the softball team and helped the Dragons to a 2002 AMC Conference Championship. She was a two-time NAIA Academic All-American while at Tiffin. After graduation from Tiffin, Balduf moved to Kentucky where she went to work as a volunteer in the AmeriCorp: Athletes in Service program. She spent over 1,700 hours working with the inner-city youth of Lexington while also volunteering as an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky.

Balduf is a native of Ohio and grew up in the Toledo area. She graduated from Tiffin in 2002 with a B.A. in Sport Management. She worked to earn graduate hours in Athletic Administration while at USD and completed her M.B.A. at Tiffin in 2006. Balduf is an active member of the NFCA and works camps across the country.

Jennifer Patrick-Swift - Seton Hill University

Following a stint at Millersville as an assistant coach in 2010, Jennifer Patrick-Swift has been named the new softball coach at Seton Hill University. Patrick-Swift brings ten years of collegiate softball playing and coaching experience to the Seton Hill bench.

Jennifer Patrick-Swift spent two seasons leading the Division III York College (Pa.) softball program to new heights. Following a 30-win season in 2009, Patrick-Swift has moved back into the Division II ranks, joining Kathy Cummings' Millersville staff as an assistant coach in 2010.

Patrick-Swift brings eight years of college softball experience to the program. She was a four-year starter at first base and two-year captain for Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., earning First Team All-Dixie/USA South Conference and Second Team All-Atlantic South Region honors as a junior and senior. A standout player, Patrick-Swift still holds career records at the school for triples (21), total bases (304), and putouts (1,159). She also ranks amongst the top-five in many of Methodist's career offensive categories.

Patrick-Swift, who currently resides in York, PA earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology (concentration in Zoology) from Methodist University in 2004. She is currently working on completing her Master of Science in Sports Management at the American Military University.

Keith Parr - Christopher Newport University

• Head Coach CNU 2004-Present
• Coach Parr and CNU finished 4th at the 2010 Division III College World Series and finished with an impressive 42-10 record in 2010.
• Assistant Coach CNU 2000-2003
• Helped lead CNU to a 186-71-1 (.723) record over the past 6 seasons, including three regular season conference championships and two USA South Tournament titles.

Rick Anderson - Roanoke College

Rick Anderson is in his 3rd season as Assistant Coach at Roanoke College. He is responsible for various softball clinics along with base running and other administrative duties. In addition, Anderson conducts coaching clinics around the Roanoke Valley.

Anderson was the founder the Virginia Renegades and ran the program for seven years. In his last season, he guided the 18-under team to a top ranking in the state of Virginia (NSA). Currently, Anderson is coach of the 23-under Renegades and brings 17 years of coaching experience to the Roanoke program.

Brandon Elliot - VA Wesleyan College
• Begins his 4th season as head softball coach for the Marlins in 2009-10 after serving as interim coach for the final two months of the 2006-07 season.
• Has Guided the Marlins to a 92-44 record overall.
• 2003 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, earning a degree in communications.
• 2003 Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District second team honoree; three-time All-Academic Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honoree
• Four-year member of the VWC baseball team; helped lead the Marlins to two ODAC titles; 2003 captain of a team that finished 34-9.

Junior College

Matt Houseman - Muskegon Community College (Michigan)

Matt Houseman is entering his fifth year at the helm of the Jayhawk softball family. The program has made significant strides under the direction of Houseman and his staff.

After qualifying for the NJCAA Region XII Tournament in his first three years at the helm, 2010 was a break-out year for the Jayhawk softball program. The Jayhawks won their first MCCAA Western Conference title, MCCAA state tournament, Region XII Regional tournament and the NJCAA Division II National Title. "Last year was incredible for our program. It is really hard to put into words; we had 17 girls that did everything that was asked of them. They competed at a high level all year, both on the field, in the community and in the classroom. To win a National Championship is so special and to do it with this group of young women means so much to me".

Before coming to Muskegon Community College, Coach Houseman held several different coaching positions. He has coached at Muskegon Catholic Central, Muskegon Orchard View and Muskegon High School. He is also the lead instructor for Vortex TPS Top 96 College Coaches Camps.
